Fly Cupcake @Corner Pham Ngoc Thach- Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Fly Cupcake

There are more stores of “Fly Cupcake” in HCMC and this one is a very nice place with seats and tables inside. There is another one in Hai Ba Trung Street, but there are only cupcakes sold and no possibility to sit.

I visited this place during Christmas time and so it was really nicely decorated and everywhere were lights and candles and santa clauses. The coffee was good and I honestly have to say that I didn’t eat a cupcake. Some friends told me that they didn’t like it so much, but I wouldn’t dare to say anyone unless I tried it myself…

The place is nice to seat (extremely comfortable chairs) and you have a nice view over the turtle lack.

Sweet place, with relatively high prices.

Banksy Cafe @14 Tôn Thất Đạm, Nguyễn Thái Bình, Quận 1, Hồ Chí Minh, Vietnam

CRAZY PLACE. CRAZY HOUSE. This house is really special, located in downtown you get the feeling of being completely far away. The house is somehow an “art” building, with lots of shops and cafés. The atmosphere is pretty cool and finally we decided to go to the Banksy Café. In the building there is also the Mockingbird Cafe (which was too small in our opinion) and the Fig Cafe (there were some kids sleeping on the couches and we didn’t want to disturb them).

Finally arrived there, we had a smoothie and coffee and the new owners offered us a shot to taste (at 4 pm :D) because they want to change the concept of the café a bit…

If you want to see a really fancy place, go there. Don’t expect a lot of sunlight, and we changed our plans from working with laptops to chatting, because the atmosphere is more for chilling than working.

Cool place, cool people, cool house.

Du Mien @48/9A Hồ Biểu Chánh, 11, Phú Nhuận, Hồ Chí Minh, Vietnam

If you are looking for a very quiet café/ restaurant, you should go to the Du Mien Garden Restaurant. It is quite far away from downtown, but with a motorbike you can get there easily. The atmosphere is really nice and the little “pool” in the middle is the main spot of this café. For me as a Western person (used to snow in Christmas time), it is really crazy sitting next to a pool with Xmas decoration!!

I had a salad there (not really coffee style..) but it was really hard to get vinnegar and oil- but they managed it and finally I had my salad with dressing! My friends tried the sweets (Black forrest cake and cheesecake) and the coffee was also really nice.
The prices are quite high, especially for this location outside D1 and D3, but for the atmosphere, it is worth it!

NEW Loft Cafe and Restaurant@95 Pasteur, Nguyễn Thái Bình, Quận 1, Hồ Chí Minh, Vietnam

The New LOFT ist same and different compared to the old one. This café is located in the second floor of an oldfashioned Saigonese house and if you follow the signs, it is easy to find.

This LOFT is more cosy than the other one and offers some really nice chairs to chill and enjoy the coffee. Again, there is the very nice writing of the LOFT in light-letters! The bar is located in a little niche and there are lots of nice details as decoration.

The lights are very, very stylish – as well as the floor. We were pretty amazed how good the whole café is arranged!

The menu is the same as in the other Loft. The food is really good, especially the PIZZA! My friends from Thailand really enjoyed it. This time, myself in the cappuccino is not as good as last time – but I recognize myself :D!

Really, really cool place. One of my favorites!
